Etymology
From *ǰáǰʰuš, *ǰáǰʰas + *-kas; compare Avestan 𐬘𐬀𐬲𐬎 (jažu, “hedgehog”). Pokorny compares Lithuanian šeškas (“ferret, polecat”).[1]
