Proto-Japonic

Etymology

From *ne- (to sleep, H accent).

The relation to *pur- (to fall (percipitation), L accent) (c.f. English fall asleep) can be discarded due to the accent discrepancy.

(This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium. Particularly: “Is this accent discrepency just because the first mora is high pitch?”)

Pronunciation

Accent class: HH(H)
