Reconstruction:Proto-West Germanic/krītan
Proto-West Germanic
Etymology
From Proto-Germanic *krītaną. The formal and semantic coincidence of *krītan and Vulgar Latin *crītāre has led to proposals of borrowing in one direction or the other; see the latter for more.
