Reconstruction:Proto-West Germanic/raþ(þ)jōn
Proto-West Germanic
Etymology
From *raþ(þ)jā (“account, reasoning”) + *-ōn. Much like the noun, the verb lacks the expected geminate -þþ- in most descendants, except perhaps Middle Low German redden.
