- A geographic region comprising the southern part of Africa; always including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini, and sometimes also Angola, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Usage notes
- While most regions are in the form of East Africa, West Africa and North Africa, this region is called Southern Africa to distinguish it from the country of South Africa, which makes up a portion of the region of Southern Africa.
