Uitwellingerga
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as wolprandeskerke in 1328. Originally derived from a compound of Old Frisian Wolprand (a personal name) and tzercka (“church”). The toponym was later renamed to a compound of ūt (“out-, outer”), an otherwise unknown toponym *Wallinge and gâ (“village, village area”). The Dutch form of the toponym was borrowed from an earlier version of the Frisian name.
