From xweda, merging with its oblique form "xwedayî". Akin to xwedan (“lord; owner”) (<*xwedawin), Central Kurdish خوا (xwa) and Persian خدا.

This form of the word cannot get a suffix attached other than the vocative ("xwedêo") and it stays the same in the oblique case. To attach a suffix the form xweda is to be used ("xwedayê, xwedayan" etc.).
