Zabrze

1. A city in Silesia, southern Poland.

From Polish Zabrze. Although the town was Prussian since 1742, the spelling of its name was never Germanized (as e.g. in Kattowitz or Schwientochlowitz). In 1915 it was renamed to Hindenburg, however, a name it held until 1945.
