(pharmacology) A drug C13H16N2O2 that inhibits the production of steroids by the adrenal cortex by blocking the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone and is used chiefly in the treatment of Cushing's disease. It is a derivative of glutethimide and has also been used as an aromatase inhibitor to treat cancers of the breast and prostate.
