  1. (obsolete, rare, biology) The skeleton of starch granules, composed of amylodextrin.
    • 1888, Journal of the Royal Microscopical Society, page 70:
      The transitory starch which appears during the germination of seeds is deposited in these amylites, and is formed at their expense.
