Etymology

Ancient Greek ἀσυνάρτητος (asunártētos, “disconnected, incoherent”) from ἀ- (a-, “un-”) +‎ συναρτάω (sunartáō, “join or knit together”), from σύν (sún, “with”) + ἀρτάω (artáō, “fasten or hang onto”), + -τος (-tos).
