azumbre (plural azumbres)

1. An ancient measure of volume of liquids used in Castile, equivalent to 2.016 litres.

Variant of earlier açubre and açumbre, from Old Spanish, from Andalusian Arabic الثُّمُن (aṯ-ṯúmn), from Arabic ثُمُن (ṯumun) and ثُمْن (ṯumn, “one-eighth”).^[1] Doublet of celamín. Cognate with Spanish azumbre.
