Etymology 1
From the verb bucare, from buca, or from either Old Frankish *būk (“cavity, stomach”) or Gothic *𐌱𐌿𐌺𐍃 (*būks), both from Proto-Germanic *būkaz (“belly, torso”). Compare Occitan/Catalan buc ("torso; cow's chest"). More at bouk.
