From Proto-Philippine *bulú(dj) (mountain) with metathesis,[1] from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *bulud (mountain) (cf. Timugon and Tagal Murut bulur, Central Dusun nulu, and Eastern Bontoc filig), from Proto-Austronesian *buləd (mountain). See also Hanunoo bulod, Bikol Central bulod, Cebuano bulod, and Tausug būd.
