Usage notes

The older usage was with a genitive noun in all cases. Later, the noun's case corresponded with the numeral's one except for the nominative/accusative where it still was in the genitive and the numeral instrumental ended in -i like other cases as it is in today's Czech.

  • desět ľudíten people
  • s desieťú ľudí (later s desieti ľudmi)with ten people

The table shows the reconstructed dual and plural forms which are only attested corrupt in higher numbers (dsěti, dsátú, dsát etc.) and in the suffix -mezidsietma. The exact length is hard to determine in some manuscripts. The special locative in -e is also only attested corrupt in numbers suffix -nádsěte (-nádste).
