From Old Irish duilesc (compare Scottish Gaelic duileasg), from Proto-Celtic *doliskos, *duliskos (compare Welsh delysg), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰelh₁- (“to bloom, be green”) (compare duille (“leaf”)).[1]
