dziedājums m (1st declension)

1. singing (the performing of a song or of another type of vocal musical work)

   viņa dziedājumā katrs tonis ir liela, harmoniska skaistuma pilns ― in his singing every tone is full of great harmonic beauty

   ja korim izveidojies saskanīgs un līdzsvarots dziedājums, tad mēdz teikt, ka korim ir labs ansamblis ― if the choir creates harmonious and balanced singing, then one says that the choir is a good ensemble

2. a fragment of a larger musical work, usually an opera

   tajā koncertā iekļauti dziedājumi no operas “Zelta zirgs” ― in that concert were included a few pieces from the opera “The Golden Horse”

3. canto (a chief division in an epic poem)

   tautas eposs sešos dziedājumos ― a folk epic in six cantos
