gabella
Catalan

Probably from Arabic قَبَالَة (qabāla, “bail, guaranty”), though a derivation from Proto-Germanic *gabulą (“tribute”) has also been proposed. The sense of "alliance" has been influenced by gavella (“sheaf”).
