From Javanese ꦒꦩ꧀ꦥꦁ (gampang, easy, easy-going), from Old Javanese gampaṅ (easy, easy-going, careless, unconcerned), from Western Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *hampaŋ (easy, promiscuous). Doublet of ampang.
