Etymology
From Proto-Vietic *k-ɟaw. Compare North Central Vietnamese tràu.
Attested in Quốc âm thi tập (國音詩集) as 𢀭, composed of 巨 (MC gjoX) + 朝 (MC drjew) (modern SV: cự triều). Attested as giầu in the Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum (1651).
