Usage notes

Especially of children crying in (sense 1), and so by association often (but not always) of crying due to less serious causes, especially when of adults (or otherwise often with a somewhat dismissive tone, similar to lipa). Can be more neutral when of children, and also include crying for more serious reasons. The association is to cry in the manner of a child, roughly, without inherent implications.
