Etymology

From Byzantine Greek ὡρολόγιον (hōrológion, book of hours), from Ancient Greek ὥρα (hṓra, time period, hour) + λόγιον (lógion, record; measuring device), from λόγος (lógos) + -ιον (-ion). Doublet of horologe and horologium. See menologion.
