From Proto-Semitic *layʾ-at- ~ laʾay-at- (cow). Equivalent to 𒄞 (lûm, bull) +‎ -𒌈 (-tum, feminine suffix). Cognate with Arabic لَآة (laʔāh, wild cow) and Biblical Hebrew לֵאָה (leʔɔ́).
