luciérnaga

Spanish

Etymology

Inherited from Old Spanish luziérnega, from Latin lucerna (lamp) + the dialectal suffix -aga, from Paleo-Hispanic. The positioning of stress in the antepenultimate syllable is also due to pre-Roman influence.
