Borrowed from Vulgar Latin *lupus cervulus, from lupus cervārius (lynx) (compare French loup-cervier, Italian lupo cerviero, Romansch luf tscherver), from Latin lupus + cervārius < cervus. Doublet of rrëqebull (lynx).[1]
