- (chiefly in the negative) a large amount [with genitive (usually translated into English by much or many)]
- Níl mórán céille aige.
- He doesn’t have much sense.
- Ní chonaic mé le mórán blianta é.
- I haven’t seen him for many years.
- Níl mórán nach dtuigeann sé.
- There isn’t much he doesn’t understand.
Usage notes
Used only in negative statements and in questions. In positive statements, neart or a lán is used instead.
