me sjåast
Norwegian Nynorsk
Etymology
Literally, “we will be seeing (each other)”. From newer speech, a calque of Norwegian Bokmål vi sees.
The form sjåast (instead of expected sest) is not same as passive sjåast, but is derived from the infinitive form of the verb sjå by adding -st, which corresponds to Norwegian Bokmål se + -es, while the traditional way derives it from present (ser -> sest). Both sest and passive sjåast correspond in Bokmål to sees.
Interjection
- (nonstandard) alternative form of vi sest
