Etymology
Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish راقی (rakı), from Arabic عَرَقِيّ (ʕaraqiyy, “of liquor”), from عَرَق (ʕaraq, “arrack, arak”, literally “condensate”), which refers to an ouzo-like liqueur made of raisins. Compare Albanian raki and Aromanian arãchii.
