The tillexis part is seemingly a New Latin borrowing from Ancient Greek τίλλω (tíllō, “I pluck or pull”). There is divergence about the "exo" affix. It is suggested it might come from ἔξω (éxō, “out”) or έξη (éxē, “habit”)
