Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *tswa(n)-ma, a derivative in -mo of the Proto-Indo-European word for dog, otherwise unattested. Compare Sanskrit श्वन् (śvā́), Ancient Greek κύων (kúōn), Old Irish cú and Lithuanian šuõ. For sense development compare Proto-Slavic *govьno (“excrement”) from *gʷṓws (“cow”).[1]
