Etymology

Borrowed from Hindi संघी (saṅghī), from Hindi संघ (saṅgh, association, union), clipping of राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ (rāṣṭrīya svayansevak saṅgh, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), a Hindu nationalist right-wing group in India.
