Etymology

From English Gillette, the name of a popular company producing safety razors, named after their inventor and the company's founder, King C. Gillette. One of the earliest genericized trademarks in Indonesian, since it followed the French pronunciation of the surname (/ʒi.lɛt/) instead of modern English one (/dʒɪ.ˈlɛt/).
