Prefix

tau-

  1. prefix indicating reciprocal action, added to a verb usually reduplicated
    tauwehe: separation, schism
    taumarumaru: to overshadow, lit. ‘to shade (maru) one another’
    tauhutihuti: to pluck or pull on each other's hairs
    taupatupatu: to beat (patu) or debate one another
    taunekeneke: interactive, lit. ‘to gradually move (nekeneke) towards one another’
    tauomaoma: to race or compete, lit. ‘to run on one another’
    tauawhiawhi: to help (awhi) one another
    tauonioni: to make love, lit. ‘to wriggle (oni) on one another’
