Singularized plural of Old Albanian thas, from Proto-Albanian *tsatja, from Proto-Indo-European *ket-. Compare Serbo-Croatian kòtac (“cattle-shed, weir”), Latin catinus (“bowl”), Old English heaþor (“enclosure, jail”).[1]
