Cognate to North Levantine Arabic ترويقة (tirwīʔa, tirwīqa), and related to the verbs travek (“to have breakfast”) and ravek (“to serve breakfast”).

Without the Cypriot term, it cannot be determined whether North Levantine Arabic ترويقة (tirwīʔa, tirwīqa) is a derivative of رَوَّق (rawwaq, “to serve breakfast to”) or of تْرَوَّق (trawwaq, “to have breakfast”) — both verbs have the verbal noun تَرْوِيق (tarwīq, tirwīq). The latter's verbal noun was originally *تْرُوُّق (*truwwuq), but mainland sedentary dialects largely lost this verbal noun pattern and merged it into the former.

However, Cypriot Arabic merged the two verbal noun patterns in the opposite direction, such that the expected Cypriot verbal noun of both travek (“to have breakfast”) and ravek (“to serve breakfast to”) is truvok, not *tirvík. But tirvike nevertheless contains *tirvík. This may suggest that North Levantine Arabic ترويقة (tirwīʔa, tirwīqa) is a derivative of رَوَّق (rawwaq, “to serve breakfast to”) formed before the Cyprus migrations began, and that Cypriot has retained this inherited form even after losing the productive verbal noun pattern.
