tisores

Etymology

Inherited from Old Catalan tesores, tosores, from Latin (forfices) tonsōrĭas, from tonsus.[1] Compare Spanish tijera, Portuguese tesoura, Galician tesoiras, Asturian tixeres, tisories. The -i-, also found in Spanish and Asturian, may be explained due to gradual influence from Old French cisoires, ciseaux (cf. Catalan cisalla).
