Attested in Phật thuyết đại báo phụ mẫu ân trọng kinh (佛說大報父母恩重經; 12th cent.) as 婆論 (MC ba lwonH) (modern SV: luận), (MC lwonH) (modern SV: luận), and 𫤍 with phonetic (MC lwonH) (modern SV: luận). Attested in Quốc âm thi tập (國音詩集; 15th cent.) as 𫤍, composed of (MC dzjwen) + (MC lwin|lwon|lwonH) (modern SV: toàn luận). (Trần Trọng Dương, 2014)

Attested as Northern Middle Vietnamese blọn in Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum (1651) (whence coastal Northern Vietnamese lọn).
