OS X (pronounced OS ten; "X" is a Roman numeral), version 10.4, codenamed Tiger, is the 5th major release of Apple's Mac operating system. It was released on April 29th, 2005. It is a Unix-based graphical interface operating system.

Tiger is a 32 bit OS, initially for the PowerPC processor. Version 10.4.4 was the first version that worked with Intel-based Macs. In 2006, Apple released Rosetta (software that allowed many PowerPC applications to run on Intel-based Macs without modification), and included it starting with Version 10.4.4.
