Pidgin (formerly Gaim) is an open-source multi-platform instant messaging client.

Supported networks among others: AIM, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC, MSN, MXit, MySpaceIM, SILC, SIMPLE, Sametime, XMPP, Yahoo! and Zephyr.

Pidgin has a GTK+ interface and is based on the libpurple library, it is available for Unix- and windows based systems.
