Etymology

From Middle Irish éistid, éitsid (to listen),[1] from Old Irish in·túaisi (to listen).[2] Cognate with Scottish Gaelic èist and Manx eaisht.

  1. (intransitive) listen [with le ‘to’], hear [with le]
