Old Armenian

Etymology

Uncertain. Usually connected with Ancient Greek μόσχος (móskhos, “young shoot or twig; calf”), μοσχίον (moskhíon, “young calf”) as an isolated Graeco-Armenian lexical isogloss inherited from Proto-Indo-European *mosǵʰ-o- (“young of an animal; young shoot”),[1][2][3][4][5][6] but Clackson is sceptical.[7]
