הוֹדָה • (hodá) (hif'il construction)

1. to admit, acknowledge, confess [with עַל]

     מְכַסֶּה פְשָׁעָיו לֹא יַצְלִיחַ; וּמוֹדֶה וְעֹזֵב יְרֻחָם׃

     məchassé fəša'áv lo yatzlíaḥ; umodé və'ozév yəruḥám.

     He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

2. to thank, acknowledge, express gratitude
