תיעב / תִּעֵב • (ti'év) (pi'el construction)

1. abhor, detest, despise
   • Tanach, Deuteronomy 7:26, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

     וְלֹא־תָבִיא תוֹעֵבָה אֶל־בֵּיתֶךָ וְהָיִיתָ חֵרֶם כָּמֹהוּ שַׁקֵּץ תְּשַׁקְּצֶנּוּ וְתַעֵב תְּתַעֲבֶנּוּ כִּי־חֵרֶם הוּא׃

     v'lo-taví to'evá 'el-beitékha v'hayíta khérem kamóhu shakéts t'shak'tsénu v'ta'év t'ta'avénu ki-khérem hú.
     wəlō-ṯāḇī ṯōʿēḇā ʾel-bēṯéḵā wəhāyī́ṯā ḥḗrem kāmṓhū šaqqēṣ təšaqqəṣénnū wəṯaʿēḇ təṯaʿăḇénnū kī-ḥḗrem hū.

     And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and be accursed like unto it; thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.
