Etymology
Unknown. Obviously of foreign origin, as its synonyms, maybe a deformation of an “elm” word reconstructible for Proto-Iranian and Proto-Balto-Slavic, Latvian vīksna, Central Kurdish inter alia ووزم (wuzm), بووز (bûz), which vocalism could have been reinterpreted as بُو (bū, “father of”) of often occurrence in Arabic organism names.
