From Old South Arabian 𐩮𐩬𐩲𐩥 (ṣnʿw); 𐩮𐩬𐩲 (ṣnʿ) is also found as a town-name. Both are of trivial derivation from 𐩮𐩬𐩲 (ṣnʿ, “to work, to work upon, to fortify”) cognate to Arabic صَنَعَ (ṣanaʕa).
