Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sač(ï)ra- (to splash, splatter), a development of *sač- (to scatter, sprinkle). Cognate with Azerbaijani sıçramaq, Bashkir сәсрәү (səsrəw), Kazakh шашырау (şaşyrau), Kyrgyz чачыроо (cacıroo), Turkmen syçramak and Uzbek sachramoq.

  1. (intransitive) to leap, spring, jump, bound, to push oneself off a surface and into the air by using the muscles in one's legs and feet
    Synonym: آتلامق (atlamak)
  2. (intransitive) to splash, splatter, plash, dash, swash, to hit or agitate a liquid so that part of it separates from the principal liquid mass
