Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *togra- (to cut into slices, small pieces); cognate with Azerbaijani doğramaq, Bashkir турау (turaw), Chuvash тура (tura), Kazakh турау (turau), Kyrgyz тууроо (tuuroo), Turkmen dogramak, Uyghur توغرىماق (toghrimaq) and Uzbek to‘g‘ramoq.
