Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *korkug (fear),[1] a development of *kork- (to fear), whence قورقمق (korkmak, to fear). Cognate with Azerbaijani qorxu, Southern Altai корку (korku), Turkmen gorky and Uzbek qoʻrquv.
