Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *čayna- (to chew);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani çeynɘmɘk, Kazakh шайнау (şainau), Kyrgyz чайноо (caynoo), Salar çenegüsi, Turkmen çeýnemek and Uzbek chaynamoq.

  1. (transitive) to chew, masticate, champ, to crush with the teeth by repeated closing and opening of the jaws
    Synonym: كومك (gevmek)
