Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀺𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺𑀬 (kittiya) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀦- (-na-), from Sanskrit *कियत्त (*kiyatta), variant of कियत् (kíyat). Doublet of کِتَّا (kittā). Cognate with Punjabi ਕਿਤਨਾ / کِتْنا (kitnā).
